I Lost My Tooth!

Yay, it's been loose for a couple weeks and he finally worked it out.
It was actually a little traumatic for him, he was surprised and it hurt a little, so it came out in tears. But then he figured out it was so cool!

Time for the Tooth-Fairy Pillow I've been intending to make since we discovered his tooth was loose.

I'm at a Payphone (Adam Levine style)

I had to explain what a payphone is to my 5-year-old, Lance.

Hooks & Needles

A big part of loving to craft is all the tools I need. When I can't find what I need I realize I need organization! Sometimes even my best attempts to organize just don't work out. But you live and you learn and then you make something better. Like this...

(free pattern and instructions coming right up)
A couple years ago I made a needle envelope to keep track of them instead of having them in my pin cushion.

It works so well, better than I thought, I didn't know if I would actually use it, but I love it. So when I needed a case for my crochet hooks, I thought the same type of pattern, just longer would work great. And along came this.

But, I was wrong! The hooks always slipped out, and I had to find them amongst the yarn, and my knitting needles didn't fit either
So I made this cutie to hopefully fit all my needs.

It has everything I need (fingers crossed) skinny short space for hooks, wider tall space for needles,  the giant hook, and scissors. And felt with a band for yarn needles and space markers (aka, bobby pins). It rolls up compact and it's pretty, yay!
Open it measures 10"x12", the pocket is 4.5" tall. And the closure? Yep it's a hair elastic!

And while I'm at it, I might as well make a matching needle envelope, right?

Here is my pattern you can print for free!

1)Cut a front and back of coordinating fabric.
2)Cut 1 rectangle of felt.
3)Sew the rectangle to the center of the inside fabric.
4)Sew coordinating fabrics right sides together, leaving a small space open on one of the straighter edges to turn.
5)Clip corners, Turn right side out.
6)Top stitch all the way around.
7)Add snap for closure, (my button is just decoration)
Then enjoy your (more organized) crafting.

About Me

I'm Melissa! Wife, Mother, Creator.

The wife of a man that I somehow was blessed enough to marry.

The mother of a 5 year old little boy that I am somehow blessed enough to raise.

And the creator of many things, I have a mind that loves to figure things out and hands with the ability to make it happen. This blog is to record my life and that of my little family and all of the craft and home projects that make up my day. Welcome!
2013 marks 30 years for me. With my birthday in June I have the last 6 months of my 20’s and the first 6 months of my 30’s all in one calendar year. So to end one decade and begin another with purpose I’ve chosen Light as my guide. This year will be lighter for me in many ways.

First, I have recently lightened my body by 30 lbs, so I’m off to a lighter start  and plan to be even lighter in the year to come.
Second, lighten my home. It’s quite dark, so I am going to lighten it up, freshen up the colors, de-clutter, and make it more personal.
Third, En-Lighten my mind and spirit and that of my family right along with me.
