I'm at a Payphone (Adam Levine style)

I had to explain what a payphone is to my 5-year-old, Lance.

He picked up a dime and asked "what is this money called?" When I answered "dime" he began to quote Mrs. Potato Head at the end of Toy Story 3 when she is filling up Mr. Potato Head with stuff. "And a dime, call me." In his best New Jersey accent.
I started to explain why he would need a dime to call someone, what does that have to do with a phone? Which brought me to talking about the fact that people used to have phones attached to their walls in their houses, which I promptly realized is not that foriegn of a concept, he has certainly seen those, silly me, even though we don't have a land line at our house. Ha.
Speaking of land lines, we had rotary phones when I was growing up. If a friend ever needed to use the phone we had to teach them how because, of course, they had never seen one like it, (but then again my friends had to teach me how to use their cordless phone...first you turn it on...)
The phone in our kitchen had a super long curly cord attached so you could move around while you talked. My older brothers would stretch it across the kitchen and into the stair well as far down as they possibly could to get privacy on their phone calls. So naturally when it was time to replace them, cordless was the only way to go! Then caller id, whaaat?...speed dial...pagers...cell phones...
I tried to call my mom several months ago (the only number I had committed to memory) "beep, beep, beep, this number has been disconnected" Whaaat? She went cell phone only, I should guessed even my Baby Boomer mother would go land line-less someday. But no worries, she's saved in my phone.

I have a Pinterest Board titled "Dreams Do Come True" it's my version of a bucket list. One dream on my board is my plan to someday have a land line again, with a rotary phone attatched, and I can show my little boy a small piece of how I grew up.
Perhaps something like these...

If anyone out there needs to free themselves of a lovely rotary phone, keep me in mind.
What are some of your dreams? I'd love to hear!
